Halifax Airport Rehabilitation Project Requires Solar Airfield Obstruction Lights
Halifax International Airport Authority (HIAA) in Nova Scotia submits its second order for an additional 79 solar LED airfield lights. Pleased with the performance of Flash Technology’s solar-powered LED aviation lights currently in use at the airport, HIAA additional airfield obstruction lights as part of a major airfield rehabilitation program currently underway.
Halifax International Airport has more flights to more destinations than any other airport in Atlantic Canada, servicing over three million passengers yearly. Commencing in May 2005 and expected to roll out over several years, the airport is undergoing major airfield renovations in order to maintain the integrity and operation of its runways and taxiways.
Airfield upgrades are required, at minimum, every 20 years. Runways at Halifax International Airport have not been upgraded since 1987. These improvements are essential to modernize the airfield to meet operational standards and ensure continued safety.
