Sitting 75 miles northeast of London and 25 miles northeast of Cambridge, RAF Lakenheath (IATA: LKZ, ICAO: EGUL) is a Royal Air Force (RAF) station in Suffolk, England. Despite its designation as an RAF station, Lakenheath currently only hosts United States Air Force units and personnel.

48th Fighter Wing
The 48 FW is part of the USAF’s Third Air Force and is the only USAF F-15 fighter wing in Europe. It is the foundation of USAF Europe’s combat capability. In 1954, the 48 FW was named the “Statue of Liberty Wing.” The 48th is the only USAF unit will both a name and numerical designation.
The Liberty Wing consists of more than 4,500 active-duty military members, over 1,000 British and US civilians and includes a unit at nearby RAF Feltwell. The wing provide responsive combat air power, support and services to meet the worldwide objectives of the US and NATO allies.
